My condolences to the extended Sciera Family. I knew Greg since he was about 10 yrs old. His Dad did a lot of Physical Therapy on my legs when I was injured in Football. I worked out with Greg in wrestling when he was young and kept up with his athletic career. He was always very gracious to me and I always appreciated him for that. He was a good man. I will miss him.

I came to know Greg because I worked with his father, John, at Cortland College. Greg was a man of virtue and dedication who excelled at all aspects of athletics and physical education. His service and compassion for helping others will be missed.

Emily, John, Brad and Madison,
We were so sorry to hear about your Dad. We haven't been in touch lately but we have many good memories of when you were young. Our kids were in many of those memories with you. We recall a number of birthday parties and church activities. Sports also always seemed to be a topic including how well you would do, what positions you would play etc..
Your Dad always made Jenelle smile just by yelling, "Jenelle" as she walked up.
Of course John and Luke also had some interesting adventures that kept us on our toes!
Don't forget 8th grade Technology and venison chili!
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Terry, Russ and Jenelle

My life changed when I met the Sciera family in Cortland in the late 70's. I became good friends with Brian and the family accepted me as part of their family, changing the course of my life. The Sciera family guided me through the turbulent teen years and helped me become a man. I was always in awe of Greg. We were hanging out at the Sciera Gym on West Court, in pulls Greg with his fastback, jumps out and puts the most weight I have ever seen on the squat bar, down/up, like nothing. Greg was such an inspiration and made you want to be better, stronger, faster and a Red Dragon. We had so much fun at Skaneateles Lake back then. I was honored when Greg took me out to pick field stones with him and taught me how to build a foundation, for the Cottage at the Lake. On my 18th birthday, Greg saved my right hand, literally. Greg was always teaching while lifting others up. It is with great sadness and love that I say good bye to a strong role model and guardian angel. Love, Myron E Ketter

Greg was my brother in law for many years. I remember him as an excellent father to his children. I have four sons, and (when we would visit) I have fond memories of Greg teaching them about nature. He was such a scientist at heart. It was obvious that he loved the outdoors and nature. My sons loved how he would pull them on sleds in the snow behind his four wheeler during winter visits. It was such a special, innocent time. I am thankful that my sister met him and had three beautiful children. I am also thankful to have been involved in his daughter Emily’s life as well. Greg was a good man and will be remembered fondly! I know God welcomed him into his kingdom.
