Obituary of Brenda B. Knickerbocker

Please share a memory of Brenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brenda B. Knickerbocker, 79, of Homer, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025 at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on June 16, 1946 in Cortland, NY, to her parents, the late Morris Baldwin and Meta Fox Baldwin. After a dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, Brenda retired as the Cincinnatus, NY Post Master. Brenda is survived by her loving family, children David C. (Kim) Brown III, Steven D. (Cindy) Brown, Karen T. (Pete) Lottridge; her siblings Bradley Baldwin, Butch (Nancy) Baldwin, Buzzy Baldwin, Rick (Vicky) Baldwin, Diane (Paul) Banfield, and Kathy (John) Holcomb; grandchildren Josh (Sam) Brown, David (Ashley) Brown IV, Ross (Chelsea) Brown, Kendra (Hailey) Lottridge, Wyatt Brown and Klara Lottridge; and her great grandchildren, Lily, Johnny, Dean, Rhett and Ryatt Brown. Also many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and sister in law, Vesta Brown. In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by her husbands David C. Brown II and Henry Knickerbocker, great grandson Jaxson Brown, sister Sue Whiteman, sister Bonita Baldwin and brother Norman Baldwin. Brenda, affectionately known to her family as Gram, was known for her kindness, selflessness, strength and angel like spirit. Always putting others first, she was a very tender soul who loved her family unwaveringly, especially her grandchildren, who she spent many days with on the golf course or playing cards or Yahtzee and having a dessert to share afterwards, always having cookies on the counter or ice cream in the freezer. Even later in her life she enjoyed playing Rummikub and Bingo with her many new friends at the Brewster House and enjoyed a dessert after every meal. Brenda especially enjoyed the Wizard of Oz and never passed up the opportunity to sing Somewhere over the Rainbow, her favorite song. Brenda was always the quietest in the room, soaking in every moment of love and laughter. To know her was to love her and we will never forget the lessons of love, kindness, and perseverance (her favorite word) she gave to us all. She was a beautiful woman through and through and the best mom/gram anyone could ask for.
