Obituary of Linda Lea Parker

Linda Lea Parker (Aungier) (Sutton) 86, of Cortland passed away on August 8, 2025 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1938 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Francis and Beatrice (Morse) Aungier. Linda worked at Groton Plant of Smith Corona. She was a proprietor with her husband W. Richard Parker of Mantela's Bar for 20 years, worked at Cortland Corset, Cortland Crescent, Buckbeemeres, she worked as SUNY Cortland for 12 years before retirement. Linda loved gardening flowers as well as vegetables. She found happiness in growing, harvesting and eating her own vegetables. In her younger life, Linda enjoyed being involved in the Boy Scouts as a den mother, Den 2 Pack 80 Tioughnioga District She became a commissioner in the District of Baden Powell Council. Linda was also the cookie chairman/woman for Girl Scouts of America. Linda enjoyed sewing and crafting, especially ceramics, where she became a registered teacher of ceramics through the Duncan company. Linda loved to travel with the Cortland Senior Travel Group, a big highlight for her was the trip to MT. Rushmore. Linda alongside her husband advocated for Veterans of Cortland County. She was a member of the Disable American Veterans Auxiliary serving in many leadership roles. Linda was a member of United Presbyterian Church of Cortland for many years, serving as 5th Grade Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, served on Music and Worship, Nominating and Christian Education Committees. Linda was predeceased by husband, W. Richard Parker, sister Helen Estey, Donna Gutchess, Bettie Baldwin (Carlton). Linda is survived by her sister Eilleen Amidon, children Gary Sutton and Valerie Grant, a special niece Brenda Lawyer, granddaughter, Chrisna, three great grandchildren, Maia, Victoria and Braxton and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, August 18, 2025 10:00 – 11:00 AM at United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church St, Cortland, NY 13045 with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will he in Cortland Rural Cemetery following the service. Donations can be made to the United Presbyterian Church. To offer condolences online www.wright-beard.com
