Obituary of Phillip J. Bush

Phillip James Bush, 51, of Groton, NY, suddenly passed away on September 23, 2025. Born on August 12,1974 in Cortland, NY, Phil lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family. He was known for his out of pocket jokes, contagious laugh, the way he always made people feel welcome, and for being the best dad and papa. Throughout his life, Phil enjoyed shooting pool, playing cornhole, fishing, showing funny memes, cheering on the 49ers, and spending time with his family. He was the type of person who could make anyone smile, who always put others before himself, and was the first person to show up if you needed help. He is survived by his Mother, Barbara Watts, his brother, Robert Bush (Angel), his sisters, Melody Aldrich, and Monica Smith (Steve), his children Chloe Bush (Austin), and James Bush, his beloved grandchildren, Colton and Carter Edwards, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, James Bush. A visitation to honor Phil's life will be held on October 4, 2025 from 12:00-2:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home located on 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow at the Eagle's club from 4pm-7pm located on 155 Port Watson Street, Cortland, NY.
