Obituary of Albert W. Arnold

Albert "Al" W. Arnold, 93, of Cortland, NY, passed away at home on October 11, 2025, with family by his side. He was born on April 6, 1932, the son of the late William and Adelaide Satterly Arnold. Al was a lifelong resident of Cortland, attending local schools. Following his education, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949-1953 and received an honorable discharge. He had an avid enthusiasm for automobiles and possessed an almost encyclopedic knowledge of cars and trucks. He owned and operated Al Arnold's Body Shop, and served as past president of the Cortland Antique Auto Club. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilhelmina Ahrens Arnold, his children Terry (Jeffrey) Morse and Tammy (Robert) Stokoe, and grandchildren Ahren (Corey Briggs) Morse and Brett (Ellen) Stokoe. In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by grandchild Ross Stokoe. He is also survived by his children from a previous marriage, Michael (Beth) Arnold and Debora (Amos) Sturdevant, and grandchildren Anthony Compagni and Fred Compagni III. The family would like to thank Al's caregivers: Cathleen Fair, Robyn Fisher, Sarah Whitt, Michelle Lytle, and especially Michelle Myers.
