Obituary of George "Fred" Francis

George "Fred" Francis, 90, of Cortland, NY passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2025. He was born on December 2, 1934 the son of the late George and Margaret McKinney Francis. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and friend. George proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war. He dedicated 25 years working for Smith Corona prior to his retirement from Eastman Kodak. George was also the Post Commander for the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and joking around. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Geroge is survived by his wife Muriel Francis, his children Stephen (Paula) Francis, Linda Francis-Pike, Kevin (Beth) Smith, Crystal (Rick) Paninski, Deborah (William) Gower, and Diana Knickerbocker, and his several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by his granddaughter Kelley Smith. Graveside services will be private.
