Obituary of Robert L. West

Robert L. West, 87, of McGraw, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. He was born on August 2, 1938, in Truxton, NY, the son of the late Lawrence and Ruth Crandall West. Robert was a lifelong resident of the area and spent many dedicated years working at Gutchess Lumber. He took pride in a hard day's work and in lending a hand whenever someone needed it. Outside of work, Robert loved the simple joys of life—fishing by the water, spending time in the woods hunting, and sharing stories with family and friends. He especially loved time spent with his family, and his grandkids will always remember the fun times riding four-wheelers with him and the laughter that filled those days. Those who knew Robert will remember his quiet strength, steady presence, and the way he could always make you smile with a bit of humor or a good story from years past. He is survived by his loving daughter, Sylvia Webster, who will always hold dear his love, wisdom, and the many memories they shared together, and his sisters Jean and Julie. Robert was predeceased by his beloved children, Jeff West (Miranda) and Dianna West; his parents, Lawrence and Ruth West; and his siblings, Donald West and Joyce West, whom he now joins in eternal rest. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren — Paige, Ashley, Jaimee, Nora, Jason (Tammy), Jared (Kristle), Dayna (Brandon), Austyn, Alexis, Landon, Jakari, Jaiden, Tyler, Gracelon, Kaylee, Emerie, Evelyn, and Stacey — as well as several cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever remember his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit.
