David Lee Nourse, 72 of Cortland NY, passed away on 11/18/2025 in Guthrie Regional
Cortland.
Funeral service will be held at Christian Assembly of God Church on December 6, 2025
at 2 pm with Reverend Adam Gosser of Christian Assembly of God Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Spring at Mount Alone Cemetery, Town of Oswegatchie,
NY. Calling hours will be held at the Church from 12 until 2 pm prior to the Service with
a luncheon to follow. Wright Beard Funeral Home assisting the family.
David was born in Syracuse NY on November 22, 1952, and was adopted by Foster and
Winifred Nourse at the age of 14 months. He went to high school at LaFayette and
went on to Seaway Baptist Bible Institute in Cornwall, Ontario. David worked at
several businesses. He was most proud of his work as a Teacher's Aide in McGraw
Elementary School and Homer Intermediate School, and as Community Support Staff
through Franciska Racker Center in Cortland for 19 years where he worked with several
young men with Development disabilities. David also was a member of Cortland City
Fire Department and Auxiliary and the McGraw Fire Department.
David is survived by his wife, Gina Nourse of Cortland and son John, and one of the
boys he worked with who became like an adopted son, Chad Mudge of Cortland. He
also survived by his wife's sisters Judy McEathron of Lisbon, Peggy Whiteford and Dale
Simmons and her husband Kevin Emler of Rochester. Nieces, Lisa Wright and her
husband Donald and their son Zachary and grandson Colton of Lisbon, Jennie Harper
and her daughter Calleigh of Canton and Michelle & Matt Kraft and their children
Hailey and Benjamin of Rochester. He also is survived by several cousins and their
families. He is preceded in death by his parents Foster & Winifred, his older brother
who died as an infant, his in-laws, Hudson & Bette Simmons, and niece Cheryl
Simmons.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Staff of Crown Park Nursing Home
and Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center.
