Obituary of Gloria Havington

Gloria J. Havington, 90, passed away December 1, 2025 after a long illness. She was born June 11, 1935 in Cortland NY. Gloria was a lifelong resident of Cortland graduating from Cortland High School in 1953. Throughout her working career she served as "Pro Temp" Postmaster at various post offices until a new Postmaster was hired and was based out of the Cortland offices but serving Aurora and Freeville locations. She was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Homer. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, calligraphy, and an active member of the Cortland High School graduating class reunion committee. She is survived by her daughter Joan Call, her son Brad (Franny) Havington, her grandchildren Stacie Compagni, Steven (Jackie) McCloskey, Charles McCloskey Tanner Havington, and Ashley (Scott) Tessaro, great grandchildren Kalianne (Colton) Keating, Ryan McCloskey, Luke McCloskey, and Jack McCloskey, along with several nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Cherchio, her husband Charles Havington,her son William, her grandson Thomas Compagni, her siblings Lillian Antinore and Carol Bailey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday December 5, 2025, 11 am at St. Margaret's Church, Copeland ave., Homer NY. A calling hour will be held from 10-11 am prior to Mass at the Church. Following Mass burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, next to her late husband Charles. Family would like to invite all to join for a luncheon following the burial at the church hall.
