Obituary of Derek Sturdevant

Derek Robert Sturdevant, 45, of Cortland NY, passed away on December 17, 2025, after a long illness. Derek was longtime resident of the area graduating from Marathon High School in 1999. Derek was proud of his service in the U.S. Army Air Born Division. He enjoyed all aspects of music, from singing and playing multiple instruments. He was always good for a laugh or two. He as predeceased by his mother Kelly (Ketchum) Sturdevant of Binghamton. Derek is survived by his father Dann and Step mom Wendy (Harvey) Sturdevant of Cortland, his brother Paul Sturdevant of Whitney Point, his daughter Arainna Sturdevant of Virginia, his daughter Grace and his son Noah of Trumansburg NY, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special sister Michelle Griffen of AK. At Derek's request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of Life will be held later at the family's discretion.
