Robert L.W. Pierce, 89, of Cortland passed away December 29, 2025, at the Cayuga Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1936, in Cortland, NY, the oldest of nine children.
Robert was a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed through the Ithaca Carpenter' Union and was extremely dedicated to his craft throughout his life. He was an active member of the Virgil United Methodist Church serving as trustee and helped with numerous maintenance and carpentry projects at the church including constructing the church garage and working on the vaulted ceiling. Robert was a lifelong member of the NYS Grange, serving lots of spaghetti fundraiser dinners. He will be remembered as a prolific gardener sharing his bounty with his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards all over town, hunting, trapping and helping others. His family will cherish his memory as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather who led by his hard work ethic.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Judy Pierce, his son Stanley (Robin) Pierce, his daughter Jamie (Jim) Pascucci, his grandchildren Michael (Allyson) Pascucci, Jennifer Demarco, Nikki (Tim) Baldwin, Melissa Pascucci, Theresa (Jeremy) Granger, Justin (Aley) Pierce, Lindsey (Nick) Marchese, Anthony (Arial) Pascucci, his great grandchildren Delaney and Elliott Granger, his siblings Lyle (Esther) Pierce, Jeannine (Aaron) Morse, Marjorie (Don) Leonard, David Pierce, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Louis and Sylvia Kaiser Pierce, and his siblings Beverly, Walter, Leroy and Burt.
Calling hours will be Saturday January 3, 2026, 9:30 am -11 am with a funeral service to begin 11 am with Rev. Stephanie Brown officiating at Wright Beard Funeral Home, 9Lincoln Ave. Cortland, NY.
