Known Satch since I was probably 6 years old….he became friends with my step-dad JohnJohn and he took us over to Satches house when he lived on the east end of South Ave cuz both their daughters were the same age (2-3 at the time). Layla and Star became good friends since then and throughout school. Over the years he was always a friend to the fam, looking out for my sister and I. Later on, we had kids at the same time too, and our sons wrestled one another in pee wees and stuff, and he would always says “one day my boys are gonna catch up to yours” and I would laugh lol. Any time I would see him he showed love and concern for me and my fam. Always asked about my mom cuz he knew she had been sick for a while. Was always asking how the boys were doin, and would tell me proudly how his were doin. Usually when we’d run into each other, it would end up being a 30
Minute talk about everything from politics to sports, didn’t matter where we were, he didn’t care who was around or what anyone thought, which I loved about him. He was who he was, no apologies.
I got a picture somewhere of him and JohnJohn painting houses over in Ithaca from back
In the 80’s…I’ll see if I can find it. Them dudes, along with Walter “Bo” Ubiles, was always hustling or had something goin on.
R.I.P. Satch….give my mom and JohnJohn a hug for me up there
Condolences to the fam

Satch had been a part of my life for many years. He gave me the second best gift of my life - Layla. I will always see him in her - her intelligence, her oral gifts and her beauty. RIP knowing you will be remembered through your children. Your memory will always be in my heart.

Have known Clarence for many years. Worked with Clarence alot during my time at Paul Yaman Construction. He also worked with me on a couple of projects at JBK Builders! Always enjoyed seeing him around town and talking to him. Yes he told me about Woodstock and Jimmy Hendrix, he also showed me a photo when he was near the stage, pretty Cool.
