Obituary of Elizabeth McCartney
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth McCartney, a devoted Catholic, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and passionate traveler, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Greg McCartney, who preceded her in death on January 12, 2023.
Elizabeth's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her four children: Adrienne Nadge (Jason Vincent), Donald Kopp, Jr. (Julie Kopp), Joseph Kopp and Kathryn Guido (John Dalola). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Amanda Nadge, Jacob Nadge, Chloe Nadge, Donald Kopp III, Kylie Piech, Joshua Kopp, Benjamin Kopp, Gavin Kopp, Brandon Kopp, Anthony Guido, Isabella Guido and Anthony Dalola. She was also blessed with four cherished great-grandchildren—Orion Piech, Anna Piech, Maddison Piech and Levi Mudge—who brought her immense happiness.
Elizabeth shared her life with her beloved Shetland Sheepdog, Bogie, whose companionship brought her comfort and joy.
Elizabeth enjoyed a long and distinguished career shaped by her love of travel and cultural connection. She worked for many years as a travel agent and later served as Assistant Director of International Programs at SUNY Cortland, where she helped students broaden their horizons through study abroad experiences. Following her time at SUNY Cortland, she founded INDY Travel, a travel service dedicated to arranging international group travel for women—an endeavor that perfectly reflected her independent spirit, organizational talents, and deep belief in the power of travel to transform lives.
A woman of deep faith, Elizabeth drew strength from her Catholic beliefs throughout her life and especially during her illness. She will be remembered for her resilience, warmth, generosity, and adventurous spirit, as well as for the many lives she touched through her work, her guidance, and her love.
Elizabeth's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the journeys she inspired, and the faith that sustained her.
