Obituary of Miriam L. Phenes
Please share a memory of Miriam to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Miriam Lois (Robinson) Phenes went to be with her Lord and Savior January 17, 2026. Surviving are her children Sharon, NY, Robert (Donna), FL, David (Barbara), NY, and Debra, NY, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Reverend Robert Phenes.
Miriam was born with her twin sister Ruth on March 1, 1938 in Lynn, Mass, to the Reverend Arthur and Nellie Robinson. Miriam spent her childhood throughout New England as her parents worked in many churches. They settled in Salem, Massachusetts and started the Salem Full Gospel Chapel. Here at this church, Miriam met a young visiting trumpet player. Later, she attended Zion Bible Institute in Providence, RI. Miriam here fell in love and married the young trumpet player.
Later, Miriam and her husband moved to Cortland, NY for him to assist in ministry at Parkside Assembly of God. Throughout the years, they traveled to many churches with her husband preaching and singing, with Miriam accompanying him on piano.
Miriam took great joy in raising her children and making a wonderful home for her family. She was proud to have taught several church groups called Prims. She worked hard preparing and planning lessons to teach young girls about God.
Our mother never realized the impact she had made on many lives. Her desire was truly to serve God and her family. Well done Mom. Well done thou good and faithful servant of God.
