Obituary of Connie Horner
Please share a memory of Connie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Connie L. Horner, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 28, 2026. Connie was born in Johnson City, the daughter of the late Jaunita and Andrew Burns and Donald Copp.
Connie is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 32 years Rick, and her children Rob (Jessica) Shutts, Brian (Kriss) Horner, Andrew (Ivy) Shutts, Tracie (Derek) Layton, and Jaunita Shutts. Connie had several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she adored dearly. Connie enjoyed spending much of her time with her sisters Ruthie Kowalewski, Sally Copp, Sam Morse, and Diane Cogswell. Connie was predeceased by her parents Jaunita and Andrew Burns, Donald Copp and her sister Donna Beckwith.
Connie's most treasured time was spent sitting around the campfire and at the Blodgett Mills Sportsmen's Club sharing stories and making memories with her family and friends. Connie enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking meals and making special crafts to give to everyone at Christmas time (her favorite holiday as evidenced by the decorated tree that was in the kitchen year-round). Connie spent her weekends during race seasons either at the track or watching NASCAR on television.
Connie's final wishes were for her family and friends not to mourn her, but to celebrate the life that she lived and the memories that were made. In lieu of flowers, Connie asked that donations be made to the Blodgett Mills Sportsmen's Club for the benefit of the McGraw Scholastic Trap Team in care of Sam Morse, 2940 Clute Road, Cortland, NY 13045.
Family and friends are invited to a calling hour on Monday, February 2nd from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Funeral service will follow at 12:OO PM. Burial will take place in the spring in Virgil Rural Cemetery.
Connie's family would like to invite everyone to attend a luncheon at the Blodgett Mills Sportsmen's Club in her honor following the funeral services.
