Obituary of Filomena Fabrizio

Filomena Fabrizio, 89, of Cortland passed away February 13, 2026. She was born January 23, 1937 in Dogliola, Italy, the daughter of the late Angelo and Teresa Del Nero Piedigrossi. Filomena immigrated to the United States of America at the age of seventeen. She began working at Cortland Corset until 1961 then went on to work at SUNY @ Cortland where she retired after thirty plus years. Filomena was a communicant of St. Anthony's church since settling in Cortland, being a member of Stella D'oro and Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking and baking her favorite Italian foods, gardening, tending to her flowers, but most of all being around her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 66 yrs. Dante Fabrizio, her daughter Sheila (Scott) MacIntire and their children Kyle (Assunta) MacIntire, Jordan MacIntire, Connor (Tabitha) MacIntire, her son Nick (Mary Lynn) Fabrizio and their children Brittany Fabrizio and Daniel Fabrizio, great grandchildren Phoenix, Emilia, Vincent, Bentley, and Braelyn, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Carla, her sister Mirella and her brother Nicola. Calling hours will be Friday February 27, 2026, 5-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 28, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Church, 50 Pomeroy St., Cortland NY. Entombment will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland NY.
