John Henry Prentice, 79, of Newfield, NY, entered his heavenly home on February 26, 2026. John was born on May 1, 1946. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Linda Hall Prentice. They were married on June 6, 1964, in Cortland, NY. He is also survived by daughters Karen Martha Boots (Paul) of Central Square, NY, and her son Benjamin; Vickie Marion VanCamp (Matt) of Newfield, NY and her two daughters, Sarah and Ceana; and a son Daniel John Prentice (Becky) of Pitcher, NY, and their three children Christopher, Darci, (Ryan) and Samantha and two great-grandchildren Amelia (Chris) and Gideon (Darci), brother James Prentice (Lisa) of Pitcher, NY, and Stephen Prentice (Karen) of Freeville, NY. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Archie Prentice and Elizabeth Wells Prentice (Cincinnatus, NY), his sister, Marion Prentice, his father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Edith Hall (Homer, NY), and his brother-in-law, David Hall (Lorraine), Dryden, NY.
John adored his wife and loved listening to her play the piano. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and guitar, serving on church worship teams, and singing at churches and events with the Prentice family singing group. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. John was a truck driver for many years, and in his younger years, he enjoyed farming and deer hunting. John was beloved by many as a husband, dad, brother, uncle, son, cousin, father-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, and friend. He is remembered as a faithful man of God and as a kind, gentle person with a smile for everyone. His life stories, which he enjoyed sharing, were entertaining. His love and music touched many throughout his life. He will be greatly missed.
