Obituary of Jane Sherman

Jane Sherman, 67, of Cortland, NY passed away surrounded by her loved ones, on Tuesday March 10, 2026. She was born on June 23, 1958, the daughter of the late Frederick and Myra McDermott. Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, going on trips, especially to Lake George, and being with her family. Jane was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked at Cortland Corset for many years prior to leaving to take care of her mother. She went on to work in the cafeteria at the Cortland High School, where she retired from. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Jane is survived by her children Keith (Tiffany) Sherman and Wendy (Larry) Carr, her 10 grandchildren, and her 4 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Raymond Sherman, and siblings Charles McDermott, Richard McDermott, Susan Griffin, and Margaret Marcey. Calling hours will be held on Saturday March 21, 2026 from 11am-1pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
