Obituary of Richard Melvin Edgar Sr.

Richard M. "Dick" Edgar Sr., 81, of Sempronius NY, lost his battle with this terrible illness March 13, 2026 at the Cortland Guthrie Hospital. Dick was born in Cortland and educated locally. He worked at Cris Craft Boat Co. prior to enlisting with the US Army in 1968 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. After serving his country and returning to the area, he began working at SUNY Cortland, retiring in 2006 after forty years of employment. He also worked part time at the Moravia and Skaneateles Post Office's. He is survived by his wife of 58 yrs. Sharon Edgar, his son Richard (Cindy) Edgar Jr., his daughters Carleen Edgar and Barbara Stotler, his grandchildren Camerin Edgar, David Edgar, Dajenae Edgar, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Glendon and Pauline Edgar Sr., his brothers Glendon Edgar Jr. and Barry Edgar, and his sister Nancy Boyce. There are no services at this time. Burial will be at the Glenwood Cemetery, Homer NY.
