Patricia Marie (Hopkins) Brookins, 76, of Cortland passed away peacefully March 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 13, 1949, in Cortland, the daughter of the late LeRoy Hopkins and Freida (Cook) Culver. Patricia was a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Cortland High School. After high school, she worked at the First National Bank of Cortland where she met her husband, Donald. They were then married and began their family. Patricia spent the majority of her career (40+ years) at what is now Guthrie Cortland Medical Center where she retired from their Human Resources Department. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Cortland. Her family will cherish her memory as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 57 yrs. Donald Brookins, her children Maria (Douglas) Adsit, Katrina Campbell, Angelina (Philip) Gilbert, and Donald (Rachael) Brookins Jr., her eight grandchildren Doug Adsit Jr., Alexander Brookins, Andrew Adsit, Brooke (Campbell) Ferris, Austin Adsit, Jacob Gilbert, her "birthday buddy" Tyler Gilbert and Elliot Brookins; seven great-grandchildren Drew Parrish-Adsit, Amelia Adsit, Harvey Ferris, Emma Adsit, Ronin Adsit, Asael Ferris and Ezra Adsit; her sister Linda Fellows, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no formal services or calling hours at this time although a mass in Patricia's memory will be requested at St. Mary's Church for the near future. Patricia truly represented genuine kindness, consistently putting others before herself.
