Obituary of James A. "Jimbo" Lyon

James "Jimbo" Lyon, 62, of Cortland passed away unexpectedly March 23 ,2026. He was born June 1, 1963, in Cortland NY. Jimbo was a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Cortland High School. He went on to LeMoyne College and Tompkins Community College. Jimbo worked for H&R Block as a tax preparation specialist. He was an avid sports fan enjoying baseball, football, and golfing. He volunteered for years at the Cortland Youth Bureau. He is survived by his mother C. Elaine Lyon, his brother David (Annabelle) Lyon , his sister Sue Hollenbeck, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his father Otis Lyon. Calling hours will be Friday April 3, 2026, from 2:00-3:45 pm with a memorial service to begin 4:00 pm with Rev. Stephanie Brown presiding at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045.
