Karen N. Havens, 81, of DeRuyter NY, passed away March 24, 2026. Karen was born February 22,1945 in Cortland NY graduating from DeRuyter High School. She had been employed with Continental Cordage, Buckbee Mears, and Cortland Line Co. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to old country music, watching gameshows, baking, sewing, bird watching, and being remembered as a phenomenal cook. But mostly enjoyed spending her time with her children and grandchildren. Her family will cherish these memories and remember her legacy as they continue to enjoy and share in her activities. She is survived by her son Gary (JoAnne Crandall) Mierke, her daughters Diane (Mike) Seamans, Rebecca "Becky" (Christopher) Marshall, her grandchildren Rachael (Andrew), Kelly (Josh), Amanda, Matthew, Nathan, Kayla (Jeffrey), Tayler (Zach), her great grandchildren Wyatt, Jordan, Adalynn, Lainey, and Kain, her siblings Phillip Nowalk and Helen Hill, along with,many nieces, nephews, and friends. Karen was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Lucille Nowalk, her siblings Stanley Jr., Karl, Leonard, Charles, Gus, John, Gene, Robert, Evelyn, Sylvia, and Margaret. A celebration of Karens life will begin at 1 pm Saturday April 11, 2026 at Karens home, 733 Railroad St., DeRuyter NY, 13052 where family and friends will be allowed to share a story or memory.
