Obituary of Laureen B. Batsford

Reverend Laureen Betty Batsford passed with family at her side on April 6, 2026 after 78 joyful years. She was a free spirit that loved to travel. She was devoted to her family, her friends and her pets. Laureen was born December 2, 1947 in Syracuse, NY to Betty and Franklin Ford. She grew up with her three sisters and brother in Mycenae, NY. Laureen was called to serve in ministry and was ordained at the New Seminary in New York City. She delighted in traveling all over upstate New York to help couples begin their journey together by blessing their commitment to each other. She worked for years as a care counselor for women dealing with trauma and loss. She was predeceased by both of her parents, her sister Donna Davis and her first husband, Nelson Scanlon. Laureen is survived by her husband of 44 years, Wilfred Batsford. Her siblings; Gayla (Randy) Parker, Pamela (Norman) Davis and Gary (Phil) Ford. Her children; Lisa (Michael) Burkhard, Bill (Missy) Batsford, Jennifer (Greg) Rowe and Aaron (Melody) Scanlon. Her grandchildren; Nathaniel (Christina) Rowe, Brett Bottoff, Veronica Silverstein, Sean Scanlon, Travis Batsford, Kaleb Batsford, Scott (Beth) Arnold, Elizabeth Scanlon and Jayden Maynard. Her great-grandchildren Keira, Jackson, Anna, Landon and Riley. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and almost any person she met. Funeral service to be held at the Wright-Beard Funeral home on April 11, 2026 at 4pm. Celebration of life to follow at the Homer Elks Club.
