Obituary of Adela L. Cornell

Today we celebrate the beautiful life of Adela (Del) Louise Cornell, born July 7th, 1937, in Cortland, NY. She passed away at home in Hudson, FL on March 12th, 2026, after 88 vibrant years. Outgoing and loving, Del lived every day with purpose and joy. Whether she was clicking knitting needles, lining up a golf shot, shuffling cards, or cheering a bowling strike, Del turned hobbies into happy gatherings. Friends and family remember afternoons spent learning a new stitch or laughing over a close card game. Each activity showed her energy and her wish to share fun with everyone around her. She shared many devoted years of marriage with James, the partner she cherished. Together they enjoyed their children: Randy (deceased), John, Tami, James, Jr., Stacey and Todd. Del also delighted in her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who filled her later years with fresh energy. Her home was always open to family visits and the stories they brought. Generous, resilient, kind, hardworking, and intelligent, Del gave freely of her time and talent. She mended sweaters, offered steady advice, and faced life's turns with calm strength. Those qualities shape a legacy that will guide her loved ones for years to come. As we honor Del's journey, we choose smiles over tears and gratitude over sorrow. Her spirit lives on in each round of golf, every knitted blanket, and the shuffle of a fresh deck of cards. Let us gather, share stories, and keep her radiant memory shining bright. Private Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Cortland Rural Cemetery.
