Obituary of Sandra Boll

Sandra Girard Boll passed away on April 29, 2026, at her residence in Arlington, VA, at the age of 88, surrounded by her family. Sandra was born June 15, 1937, in New Iberia, LA, to the late R. F. Girard and Eleanor Minvielle Girard. She was a 1955 Graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy and attended the University of Louisiana and Dominican College. After meeting the love of her life, Jerry, in New Orleans, Sandra was married and moved north where they eventually settled in Cortland, NY. They were blessed with two sons, Rudy and Richard, who kept them busy with sports and other activities. She was a long-time special needs assistant teacher at OCM BOCES in Cortland. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoying summers on Long Island at their family home, and playing cards. One of her favorite pastimes was watching any kind of sports on TV, especially the Buffalo Bills, University of Notre Dame, Villanova University, and the New Orleans Saints. She was always happiest when playing poker or bridge, and drinking coffee with her friends. Several years after her husband passed, she moved down to Arlington, Virginia, to live with her son, Richard, and his family. She spent her final years enjoying her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. Predeceased by her husband Dr. Gerard R. Boll Jr. and son Gerard R. (Rudy) Boll III, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Romy Boll, and their children, Sydney and Kyle, of Arlington, VA, and her sister, Sister Donna Girard, O. Carm., of New Orleans, LA. The family would like to thank Capital Caring Health home hospice staff for taking such good care of Sandra during her battle with lung cancer. Visitation will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA, on May 5, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM. A second visitation will be held at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY, on May 12, 2026, from 5 PM to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 46 N. Main Street, Cortland, NY, on May 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, 4101 West Road, Cortland, NY, immediately following Mass.
