Obituary of Janet Marie Stratton

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janet Marie Stratton 1942-2026 It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our mother, Janet Stratton. Janet was a truly beautiful soul who left behind a legacy of love and warmth that touched everyone who knew her. Janet was a devoted wife to her husband, Dennis O. Stratton, for 61 wonderful years. She was a deeply loving mother to Tamara (Fred LeMoine), Tracey (Thomas Zuliani), and Todd (Lynette Stratton). Her life's passion was centered around children; from her studies in early childhood development to her nineteen years as a kindergarten teacher, she dedicated herself to the growth and well-being of the youngest among us. Whether serving as the Director of the YWCA nursery school or working as a Kindergarten teacher in Groton, Greece, Auburn, and Cortland, NY, she was known for her beautiful smile, easy laugh, and the special care she provided to her "little ones." Outside of her career, Janet enjoyed watercolor painting, golf, playing cards, and traveling. She was a faithful member of St. Margaret's Church in Homer, NY, since 1975. Most of all, she cherished time with her family, including her nine grandchildren—Maxwell LeMoine (Savannah), Carlyn LeMoine (Junior), Coleman LeMoine, Jacob Zuliani, Alison Zuliani, Mark Zuliani, Brooke Perry (Nick), Samuel Stratton, Luke Stratton-and her great-grandchild, Hudson Perry. Janet is also survived by her niece, Kim Reid (Dan) and their two sons, Ryan and Trevor. Janet was predeceased by her parents, Lena and Albert Guaspari, her sister Joan Camillo, and her favorite brother-in-law Joe Camillo. We will miss her dearly, but we take comfort in the beautiful life she lived and the many lives she brightened along the way. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 11 am, Saturday May 30, 2026, at St. Margaret's Church, Homer NY. Following Mass the family will greet extended family and friends in the church hall for a luncheon. The Wright-Beard Funeral Home is serving the family, online condolences may be left at www.wright-beard.com In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the YWCA Cortland Here We Grow daycare center's Universal Pre-Kindergarten program to honor Janet's time spent as Director of the YWCA's nursery school. Write "Here We Grow UPK" in the check memo. Mail checks to YWCA Cortland 14 Clayton Avenue, Cortland, NY 13045.
