Charlotte L. Holmes December 15, 1941 – June 20, 2026
Charlotte L. Holmes, of Marathon, New York, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 84.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Dwayne Holmes, with whom she shared nearly 68 years of marriage. She is also survived by her children, Robin (Greg) Abbott, Dianna (Jim) Blewett, Wendy (Deron) Dohanich, and Bill (Debbi) Holmes; her grandchildren, Ryan Holmes, Eric Blewett, Jamie Slater, Bryan Blewett, Scott Shattuck, Amanda Campbell, Michael Shattuck, Jenna Batchelder, Andrew Dohanich, and Daniel Dohanich; and many great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy.
Charlotte lived a life filled with creativity, hard work, and love. She had a gift for making beautiful things and enjoyed knitting, sewing, woodcarving, painting, and countless other crafts. She was an avid reader, a talented chef, and a devoted companion to her beloved dog, Lizzy.
Over the years, Charlotte worked at Arco Skates and Smith Corona before joining Dwayne at Marathon Iron Works, the family business they owned and operated together.
Some of Charlotte's happiest memories were made traveling with Dwayne in their camper, exploring new places and enjoying the freedom of the open road. They also cherished their years in Melbourne, Florida, and at DeRuyter Lake, where family gatherings, evenings by the water, and time spent together created memories that would last a lifetime.
Charlotte found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved to cook and was known for the meals and treats she shared with those she loved. She never wrote her recipes down, and even when she was following one, there was always a chance she had mixed up an ingredient or two. Somehow, it always worked out, and the results were uniquely hers.
Above all else, Charlotte loved her family. She was kind, caring, generous, and endlessly supportive. She was the grandmother everyone adored - the one who always made you feel welcome, loved, and important. Her warmth, creativity, quiet strength, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
