Obituary of Robert Demeree

Robert Demeree, 90, of Cortland, NY passed away on Tuesday June 30, 2026. He was born on June 25, 1936, the son of the lateMike and Ruth Demeree.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He grew up in Bainbridge, NY prior to serving in the United States Army. Robert earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry-Syracuse. He took pride in his work with NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation, where he was employed for 32 years. Robert and his father managed several timber and Christmas tree properties together.  In 1984, Robert established his own business, the Demeree Tree Farm, on Summer Hillwhere he became quite well known to the locals who came year after year to cut their own Christmas trees. Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing. He taught skiing lessons at Greek Peak Ski Resort for many years, and took many ski trips with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his children Anne (Scott) Tezak and Carl (Esther) Demeree, and his grandchildren Michael Tezak, Lucas Demeree, and Katja Demeree.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen Demeree, and his brother Phillip Demeree. 

Calling hours will be held on Monday July 6, 2026 from 4:30pm-6:30pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY.
