Well.
. what can I say Joe has been my best friend for the past 15 or so years probably the hardest person that I've been friends with at very unique personality he is. I was very happy to meet a friend who had a lot of the same values as myself.. Both alone with great families and a varied past. But lots of stories to tell. Joe Was an academic couldn't tell the difference between a screwdriver and a hammer and I am just the opposite I knew how to use the hammer and a screwdriver! We adjusted to each other and I got to meet almost all of his family and he met almost all of mine we traveled the east Coast together where I get to meet almost all of his family. He was very accepted into my family and became known as cranky joe! I am 0f course both extremely saddened and hurt by the loss of my friend Joe. I end this by saying thank you Joe for being a really really great friend and thank you for sharing your life with me sincerely George

What can I say about my brother-in-law, Joe?
When I think of Joe, I don't just think of one moment; I think of a lifetime of memories. Bayville, long days at the beach, Thanksgiving dinners surrounded by family, Christmas celebrations at Wynne's, weddings, birthdays, and trips to visit Elaine, him, and the girls in Texas. Those moments remind me that, in the end, it's the time we spend together that matters most.
Like all of us, Joe wasn't a perfect man. He was complicated, and life wasn't always easy. But if you looked beyond the surface, you could see the goodness in him. He had a genuine desire to help others, especially those with special needs, and he found meaning in making a difference whenever he could. One thing that never needed explaining was the love he had for his grandchildren. They brought him joy, and that love was one of the truest parts of who he was.
Today, we remember not just the challenges, but the person, the husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend who was part of our family's story. We need to be grateful for the memories, the laughter, and even the imperfections that made Joe uniquely himself.
So today, my girls and I will raise a glass and a prayer for you, Joe. May you finally rest in peace, free from the burdens of this world. And knowing many of those who loved you have gone before you, I like to think you've been welcomed by one incredible reunion on the other side.
Rest easy, Joe. You will be remembered, and you will be missed.

Mr. Ferger was one of my teachers at LVHS. He was also my mentor, friend, neighbor & hero. I met him when I was a junior after being close to failing almost every class because of cutting so many days of school. I hated school. I would only show up when my brother was in a wrestling match or football game. The superintendent told my parents I wouldn’t be able to graduate next year if I didn’t get caught up in my classes. Joe Ferger changed my life. The best teacher I ever had. Over the next 2 years he got me caught up with all classes,. He was kind, funny, patient, & always had a listening ear. He also lived accrosss the street from me with his beautiful family. I graduated in 1974. Joe & I became FB friends about 20 yrs ago & I was able to let him know how much he meant to me. I wanted his family to know too what a gift he was to not only me but the other kids in that class. RIP Joe. You are missed.

I am so sorry that you lost your Dad and your Papa. I remember his kindness and competence whenever he thought he could help someone. I especially think of his escorting me to the Arlington funeral of my cousin whose body was recovered 70 years after he was KIA in WW2. My family and I were overwhelmed by the magnitude of the event and Joe's emotional support and compassion helped us get through it. Godspeed my friend.

I am so sorry for Joe’s passing. Your dad and I coached varsity track together for 3 years at LOCUST VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL.
I handled running events and Joe handled field events. One of his athletes was state champion in the discus. I will say a prayer for him and his family.
