Obituary of Michael A. Blenman

Michael Arthur Blenman passed away unexpectedly on 7/8/26 in Cortland, NY. He was born on 12/5/56 in Barbados, WI to Leon Dacosta Blenman and Sylvia Elaine Blenman(both preceded him in death).

The family emigrated to the US when Mike was a child, and he had his early education in Brooklyn NY. He graduated from George Wingate High school and attained his AAS from NYCCC. He came to upstate New York in his early twenties and started his law enforcement career at Cornell University's police dept., where he later spent 30 yrs. of his policing career. He eventually worked as well with the Dryden PD and other police agencies in upstate NY.

He is survived by his daughter Maria Blenman, former wife Gina Lynch, MD, of Cortland, NY second mom Geraldine Blenman of Charlotte, NC, siblings Anne Russell ( Earl Russell ( Deceased ), Barbara McCorkle of Charlotte, NC , Anthony Blenman (Yolanda Blenman) of Greensboro, NC , nieces Christal Hale (Samuel Hale II) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Barbara Michelle Blenman of Charlotte, NC and nephew Anthony Blenman- Pugh of Greensboro, NC. Great- niece Alani Smith of Charlotte, NC and Great- nephew Samuel A. Hale III of Upper Marlboro, MD.

Mike was known for his sense of humor, his love of auto racing, his devotion to word and math games in the newspapers, a love for music, golf, his creativity in carpentry and electrical repair, and a delight in lottery scratch off tickets among other things. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family members.

Services will be held on 7/22/26, with calling hours from 9 to 11am and funeral service immediately following at Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland NY.

Mike will be laid to rest in Charlotte, NC with burial handled by A.E Grier in Charlotte, NC. Flowers may be sent to the Funeral Home if desired.
