Obituary of Nettie Ransom

Nettie Ransom, 84, of Blodgett Mills/Cortlandville, passed away July 21, 2026, with family by her side.

Nettie was a lifelong resident of the area graduating from McGraw High School. Soon after high school she married Robert in 1963 and began their family. After her children grew older, she began working outside of the home and retired from the Thrifty Shopper as manager. She attended the Church of Blodgett Mills, was an avid quilter, painter, and gardener.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Robert Ransom, her sons and their spouses Lawrence "Larry" and Dona Ransom, Russell and Joni Ransom, her grandchildren Christopher (Casey) Moffitt, Kaleigh (Teddy) Brown, six great grandchildren, her siblings Lida and Lewis Genson, Earl Kinney, Robert (Gail) Kinney, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nettie was predeceased by her parents John and Carolene Kinney Sr., her siblings John Kinney Jr., Shirley Kinney and Ray Kinney.

A calling hour will be held Friday July 31, 2026, 2-3 pm with a memorial service to begin 3 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home inc., 9 Lincoln ave., Cortland NY, 13045 with Rev. Thomas Heotzler presiding.
