Obituary of Jimmy L. Kotas

Jimmy 'Tex' L. Kotas, 74, of Cortland passed away July 29, 2026, at the Cortland Guthrie Hospital. He was born July 22, 1952, in Cortland.

Jimmy was a graduate of Cortland High School Class of 1971. He retired from Newman Golf Course in Ithaca. In his younger years he played slow pitch softball, coached the Legion small fry football teams and enjoyed playing penny poker with his family. His true passion was anything Notre Dame. Jimmy tailgated and attended eight Notre Dame football games with The Notre Dame Club of CNY.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Donna Kotas, his children Darek (Jess Lainhardt) Kotas, Livia Hamilton, Rocky Bourne, Jason Bourne, Laura (Lance) Oberlander, his brother Ron (Cindy) Kotas, his mother in law Virginia Hall, his sister in laws Phyllis (Stewart) Hatfield, Kathy Hall, his brother in law Keith (Ann) Hall, ten grandchildren, one great grandson, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents Stanley "Pete" and Mary Cherchio Kotas, his brother Thomas Kotas and his nephew Jason Kotas.
