I was heartbroken to learn of Johnny’s passing. Even though so many years have gone by since we last saw each other, he’s always stayed close in my memories. Growing up on Saint Marks Place — two kids in the East Village trying to figure out the world — and those days will never leave me.
Johnny was one of a kind. A natural coach, a patient teacher, and someone who brought joy wherever he went — whether on the soccer field, on the slopes, or just chilling while listening to the Beach Boys. I always admired the energy and heart he put into everything he did.
I’m deeply sorry I couldn’t be there for the funeral, but please know that my thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family. I’ll be making a donation to St. Nicholas Byzantine Church in Johnny’s memory, in honor of the life he lived and the goodness he shared with so many.
Susan - I hope you can find comfort in the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories that will always stay bright. He was my best man, my lifelong friend, and someone I will never forget.
Wishing you comfort, strength, and peace.

John was an excellent leader in New Jersey School Boards Association.
He was also a teacher in my district of Haddon Township.
A super nice fellow, he will be greatly missed at NJSBA affairs.

I will always remember meeting John with my husband Gerry at school board conventions. I enjoyed seeing his Facebook posts. Here I would see how proud he was of his children and grand children. The beautiful pictures he would post of the lake and his family. He was a proud man and I’m glad I got to meet him along with his wife Susan and their daughter Jessica. May God Bless him and his family.
