Linda Mead Obituary

Linda M. "Matijas" Mead of Cortland Ny passed away on August 5th 2026 after a prolonged battle with cancer with her family by her side.

Mrs. Mead was 80 years of age residing in the City of Cortland at the time of her death. Born in Cortland NY on July 17th, 1946 to Charles Matijas and Florence "Morris" Matijas.

Mrs. Mead lived in Cortland and worked at F.E. Smith elementary school. Mrs. Mead was married to Gary A. Mead on July 20th 1974.

Mrs. Mead was active in the local Senior Center and Moravia reunion committee interests. She enjoyed gardening and flower beds. Traveling was most enjoyable to her including Charleston, Savannah, Myrtle Beach, Florida and even China.

Mrs. Mead is survived by her husband of 52 years Gary Mead, Sons Jeffery Frost (Martha Garza), James Frost, Gary M. Mead (Lisa), brother James Matijas, sister Cyndie Czubot, sister Sharon Weeks.

Predeceased by her parents Charles Matijas, Florence Matijas, son Matthew A. Mead.

Calling hours will be Thursday August 13th 10:30 – 12:00, with Services following immediately. Burial will take place at the family's discretion.
