Obituary of Dean Jenney

Dean Jenney, 62, of Cortland, NY passed away on Friday August 14, 2026. He was born on January 28, 1964, in Cortland, NY. Dean was a lifelong resident of the area. He served in the United States Army. Dean was a longtime bus driver for the Homer School District, a job he truly loved. He especially enjoyed driving the school sports teams and making memories with the students. One of his favorite trips was taking students to Long Island for their marine biology trip each year. A true sports fan, Dean loved the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR, and Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid bowler at 281 Bowl in Cortland. Dean was a talented handyman who could fix just about anything and was always there to help when someone needed him. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, sense of humor, and the many lives he touched through his work and friendships. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Dean is survived by his mother Geraldine Mowry, his children Curtis, Niles, Rebecca Jenney and Gage Mitchell, his siblings William (Brenda) Jenney, Shawn (Hollie) Jenney, Carol Wesche, Tammy (Brian) Shedeck, his granddaughter Eleanor Jenney, and his step brother Stephen Sherman. Dean is predeceased by his father Ronald Jenney, his brother Scott Jenney, and his niece Amanda Jenney. A time of sharing will be held on Friday August 21, 206 from 2-3pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. Military honors will begin at 2:50pm.
