Obituary of Joseph Allen

Joseph Allen, 63, of Cortland, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2026. Known in the music world as "Joey Thunder" Allen, Joe was a gifted musician who shared his love of music with everyone around him. For years he played bass guitar with many local bands, but his favorite band was No Reason where he played side by side with Dickie Reome. For over 15 years they were bandmates, co-wrote music together, and shared countless laughs and good times. When he wasn't playing, you could find him out on his motorcycle or cheering on his beloved New York Giants. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children, Christopher Buchalla, Joey Allen and Joselyn Allen; his brother, Gary (Anne McLorn) Allen; his nephews, James McLorn, Greg Allen, Jeremy Allen, and Mike Allen, his lifelong best friend and musical brother, Dickie Reome, and a very close and special friend Brenda Buchalla. He was predeceased by his parents, Janet and Gary Allen, and his brother, Stephen. A celebration of Joe's life will be announced at a later date, where family and friends can gather to share stories, music, and memories.
