Harry M. Overby, 91, of Cortland, NY passed away on Friday September 4th, 2026. He was born on November 1st, 1934, in Henderson, NC, to the late Harry L. and Fannie Taylor Overby.
Harry was a graduate of Henderson High School in 1954. He relocated to Cortland in his 20's and took employment with Smith Corona Corp. Soon after arriving he met his late wife Carmela and were married. He also served with the U.S. Army National Reserves for 20 years. His family will cherish his memory for his kindness and being "A good southern gentleman".
He survived by his sister Betty Lou Finch, his sister-in-law Catherine Fredenburg, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by his wife Carmela Catalano Overby, his brothers Robert Lee, James Overby, Ronald Overby, Joseph Overby, Donald Overby, as well as his sisters Edna Mae Roberts and Virginia Rose Pope.
Graveside services will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery, with burial next to Carmela.
