Please share a memory of Sarah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We remember Sarah Reid, of Lansing/Ithaca, New York whose spirit departed from us on September 22, 2026 at the age of 55. She was born on February 27, 1971 in upstate New York, to her parents Florence Eaton and the late Donald Hicks. She was a beloved partner, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, dog mom, and friend whose loving presence touched countless lives.
The oldest of five children, Sarah was devoted to her family and friends. She had a big heart, a caring nature, and a willingness to help anyone who needed her. She was articulate, thoughtful, and wise. She had a special gift for putting her thoughts and feelings into words, and her advice was something those who loved her treasured. She cared deeply about the people in her life and always wanted the best for them.
Sarah is survived by her beloved partner, John Barra; mom, Florence Eaton; siblings, Sheri (Jon) Minarski, Scott Nadge, Eric Eaton, Shelley (Tristan Green) Eaton, Joey (Valerie) Hicks. She also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many cherished friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
In addition to her father, Sarah was predeceased by her grandparents, Louise Buckland, Earl Eaton, and Donald and Pearl Hicks.
Her family and friends were her world. She especially treasured her best friend, Heather. Their friendship was a special bond that meant so much to Sarah and will forever be remembered by those who knew them.
Sarah had a wonderful collection of things she loved. She was a devoted Washington Redskins football fan, enjoyed scary movies, adored dogs, and cherished being a dog mom to Miss Cinnamon. She also loved shopping, especially for purses, and could never resist anything and everything pink. Her love of pink, her beautiful purses, and all the little things that brought her joy will forever remind those who loved her of the special person she was.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY 13045. Burial will immediately follow at Virgil Cemetery.
