Barbara Kniffen Planck, 71, of Homer, NY passed away peacefully at home with family, January 31, 2016. Barbara was born January 12, 1945 in Cortland NY. She worked side by side with her late husband Dennis at Sports Unlimited and enjoyed working with the staff/students at BOCES and later Cortland Jr. Sr. High School as an administrative assistant. She loved supporting her husband and sons racing careers. Also, enjoyed the outdoors of Old Forge snowmobiling and cross country skiing. She is predeceased by her mother Esther "Betty" Kniffen and husband Dennis L. Planck, the love of her life. She is survived by her father, Wayne Kniffen, son Dale (Leslie) Planck, grandsons Stephen and Brandon Planck, sisters Carol (Greg) Kogut, Joanne Burke and brother Paul Kniffen. Several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the many health aides, doctor and nurses that have assisted with her care. There will be no calling hours. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 1pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home,9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland NY followed by a graveside burial at Glenwood Cemetery, Homer NY. Memorial donations in Barbara's name can be made to the National MS Society Upstate NY Chapter, Donor Relations Center, 1650 South Avenue, Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14620.
