Henry Fanion, 93, of Cortland passed away on August 17, 2016, at Crown Center for Nursing and Rehabiliation. He was born on September 5th, 1922, in Rochester, Massachusetts to the late Theodore and Mary LaParade Fanion. He worked at the Parente Chicken Farm in Massachusetts prior to moving to Cortland, NY to live with his brother. Henry was a member of the former Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed attending the day habilitation program at The Arc of Madison Cortland, and later the adult program at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Henry received the Arc of Madison Cortland Special Achievement Award in 2014, and was an honorary member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. Henry enjoyed maintaining the landscaping at his home. Henry loved music, and enjoyed entertaining others by playing the organ, banjo, violin, harmonica, and accordion. Henry Fanion is survived by his family at the Collegeview IRA. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in March 2016, the late Edward Fanion. A calling hour will be held 10-11 AM Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016, with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland.
