Obituary of Maere T. Preston

Maere T. Preston 85 of Cortland, passed away November25, 2016 at home with her loving family at her side Maere was born January 13, 1931 in Cortland, NY the daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel Wire Tracy. She had been proprietor of Maere’s Westside Diner and had worked at Spiro’s Ruth’s and Kathy’s Diner, she was avid card player. Maere is survived by her daughters Katherine “Kathy” King of Cortland, Cynthia of Florida Her son Richard (Michelle) Preston of McLean, her 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Maere was predeceased by Her husband Richard Preston, brothers William, Roger,Dorward and lifelong companion and love of her life Gerald “Jerry” Cornell, Funeral Services will be held Monday at 12:00pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery at a later date. Friends are invited to call from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm prior to the service.
