Marissa joined our ARTS group as one of its founding members, and she remained engaged through the years, when she was able to join us. She often shared her creative ideas and works with us, and all members who subsequently joined our group. She unfailingly offered her enthusiastic support and encouragement for the artistic ideas and works of other members. Her warmth, kindness and generosity of heart were greatly appreciated by all of us, and her presence brought a sense of beauty to our lives.

From her house next door, Marissa helped make my childhood a magical experience. She brought me to many of her gardens, welcomed me to her house, and kept me entertained outside regularly. Even as an adult, I knew she was always there for me. She reached out when I lost my first child and joined me in celebration of my second. Marissa has always been close with the natural world and now she is truly one with the earth. I think of her often, especially when I see a beautiful garden in the community we both love.

I remember Marissa from a garden harvest measuring project! She had an innovative tomato growing technique she swore by--laying them on ground cover. Thinking of you all!

Mary used to regularly attend our Sunday potluck dinners about a decade ago. She was always friendly and happy to talk about cooking and gardening, a welcome guest. I’m not sure why she stopped coming but I used to see her every now and then at our local food coop, GreenStar. She was always friendly and smiling. My deepest condolences to the family, for the loss of your mom and sister. This memory book is beautiful, by the way. The photos and quotations are soothing and contemplative.

I'm very sorry to read of Marissa death. We were neighbors for over 12 years, and often shared snippets of conversation about our lives. When Danielle was a little girl, she watched Mary's driveway very closely from our yard, and when Mary appeared on her porch, or pulled in her driveway, Danielle was off to see her. I sometimes worried that Danielle was making a pest of herself, but Mary was always kind and patient. They struck up conversations about many interesting topics. I have a black and white pic of Danielle framed on a wall in my house. It was taken when Mary took her to a Hanger Theater play. Mary's daughter Lisa was Danielle's first babysitter. As Danielke got older, her younger brother Brandon, took over the "Mary Watch" and visited her. I have many everyday memories of Mary, as we chatted about her gardens, cats, kittens, her big dog, my dog, my kids, and other topics. I hope Mary/Marissa is at peace in an endless garden with her dogs and cats. Jan
