Obituary of Roger E. Rawson Jr.

Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In loving memory of Roger "Chip" E. Rawson, Jr. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many. Chip departed this world on 1/10/24, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories Chip had an unwavering passion for cars and football, two interests that brought him immense joy throughout his life. Whether it was showing off his Camaro at the Syracuse Nationals as a proud representative of the Seven Valley Street Rods car club, or cheering on the Homer Trojans and Pittsburgh Steelers during football season, he found solace and excitement in these pursuits. His devotion extended beyond hobbies to his family, where he found the greatest joy. Chip was a loving parent to Elizabeth Rawson, John (Leandra) Williams, Katelynn (Erik) Rogers, imparting not only a love for life but a strong sense of family values. The laughter and love shared with his grandchildren: Emilli, DJ, Kyle, Bella, Alex, Maude, Mabel, and Mirabel held a special place in his heart, creating unbreakable bonds. Chip was a proud son to Roger (Jane) E. Rawson, Sr, brother to siblings Jody (Alta) Rawson, Richard (Leann) "Bummer" Brown Jr, Heidi (Chris) Adams, Eric Rawson, and Tammy (Mason) Angel, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving mother and stepfather, Rose and Richard Brown. As we mourn the loss of Chip, let us remember him for the warmth and inspiration he brought to our lives, the lessons he shared, and the wellspring of love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he forever walk tall and rest in power. Calling hours will be 12:30 – 2:30 PM on Monday, at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland with a funeral service to follow at 3 PM. Spring burial will be in Scott Union Cemetery. The family asks everyone who attend to wear their Homer Blue Pride clothes for Chip. Donations can be made to Homer Education Foundation, P.O.
