Martin Marty Townsend, 66, of 42 Church St., Cortland passed away June 26 at his home. He was born May 6, 1944 in Owego, NY, the son of the late Frank and Hazel Knight Townsend. He has been a longtime resident of Cortland. Marty drove taxi for City Taxi, he also was a bartender and drove truck for Arnolds of Cortland for many years. Marty is survived by his sister Elizabeth (Arthur) Ponton of Cortland, brother Anthony, grandchildren Randy, Robbie, and Amber, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Mary Townsend, and brother David Hewlett. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wed. at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland with Rev. Barry Kerner officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. A calling hour will be held 10-11 am prior. Contributions in Martys name may be directed to Cornerstone Church, 236 S. Main St., Cortland.
