Obituary of Darlene R. Fuller
Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
July 17, 2009 Darlene R. Fuller Kinney Gulf Road, Cortland went home to be with her Heavenly Father after a journey through cancer which began August 22, 2006. She was 50 years old. She was the daughter of the late Charles D. Fuller, Sr. and Irene Walker Fuller. Darlene was a resident of Cortland her entire life with her favorite spot being her own yard working amongst her many flower gardens. Darlene loved being outside during just about any weather, except winter, where she enjoyed viewing the beautiful snowfall from inside next to the pellet stove with a cocoa and a good book. Darlene's family was her life. Along with gardening Darlene loved to collect angels and Santa's, scrapbook, bake and spend time with her precious pets. She was also known for her love of all the holidays and enjoyed decorating for each one. But any one who truly knew her knew her favorite holiday was Christmas. Her belief was there was not such thing as too many Christmas decorations.
While never having married God blessed her with 2 beautiful nieces and 2 wonderful nephews which she absolutely adored and loved to spoil whenever the chance arose. Aunt Dee could be talked into buying just about anything, whether it be clothes, toys, furniture, car rims, or a horn for a little boys bicycle. There was nothing she didn't try getting them, after all they were her pride and joy.
Other that a few years spent working for the Cortland Standard Newspaper in advertising sales and for John Baringer at Ameriprise Financial, Darlene spent her entire career in the insurance industry and was a licensed broker for the State of New York. She worked for Hinchcliff International, McNeil and Company and finally being blessed to work for Chuck Spaulding and John Bailey at the George B. Bailey Agency. Chuck and John showed true Christian spirit in their treatment of Darlene over the last three years.
Darlene is survived by her constant companion, confident and best friend, her Mom. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Denise Fuller Jr. of Cortland, her sister and brother-in-law Sherry and Jim Foster of Scott, her nieces Jennifer Renee Foster of Scott and Katie Irene Fuller of Cortland, her nephews Steve Foster of Homer and Eric Foster of Lansing. Darlene's family meant the world to her and she wants them to always remember that little things mean the most and never forget those special times they all shared together. Darlene is also survived by several close and special friends. They will never know how much they touched her life. Her family and friends brought her so much joy and laughter, there are just not enough words to describe it.Including her father she was predeceased by her brother Danny Lee Fuller and her great-nieces Paige Renee Foster and Emma Lynn Foster; both sets of Grandparents as well as several uncles, aunts and cousins.
The entire family can not thank enough Dr. Christopher Moheimani and Dr. Kye Bang whose God given skill and talent allowed Darlene to spend the last 3 years with her family. They would also like to thank the staff at Cortland Regional Medical. With extra special love going to the staff on 2 South. A thank you also goes to Dr. Charles Garbo and his staff.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter, sister, aunt with me. She was and will always be the sister of my soul & heart. I will miss her every day of the rest of my life, but look forward to seeing her again when it is my time to cross. She sent me an email on 02/17/08 and in it she talked about turning 50 in 2009 & her Mom turning 80. She wanted a party @ the community center to celebrate and said ... "so on July 25th, 2009 I want you to open a bottle of wine, pour a glass and drink to me. (I picked July since its between both our birthdays and school is out)" I will open that bottle of wine & I will drink to my beloved friend.

Although I did not know Darlene personally, her sister in law Denise Fuller and I have been friends for many many years. I am so very sorry for you loss, as I know from Densie, what a wonderful , loving and inspiring person Darlene was. Through all the stuggle of the past 3 years Denise would tell me of the amazing strength and determined attitude Darlene showed. Her love of life and her devotion to her entire family is an inspirtation.
