Julia E. Burnett, 90 of 105 Homer Ave, Cortland, passed away July 16, 2009 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Ms. Burnett was born August 24 1918 in Montour Falls the daughter of the late Frank and Alice Mae West Burnett. Ms. Burnett had been a longtime resident of the Cortland area. She had been employed at Wickwire Bros. for over 25 years. After Wickwire Bros. closed she went to work for the Cortland Line Co. until her retirement. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Cortland. Ms. Burnett is survived by her daughter Barbara Morris of Cortland, one sister Edna Kent of Dundee, NY, six grandchildren; Christian, Elizabeth, josh, Nate, Zech and Rebekah. Sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Burnett was predeceased by her daughter Betty J. Gumprecht, her brother Ralph H. Burnett and sisters Grace Grover and Ruth Spitale. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland with her grandson Pastor Christian Gumprecht officiating. Interment will follow in the Scott Union Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Monday evening 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
