Obituary of Louise Meddaugh

Louise Meddaugh passed away July 9, 2009, was born to Smith and Anna Wright at the Wright farm in Little York on September 16, 1916. She was the youngest of three daughters; Laura being the next oldest and Doris the oldest. Louise graduated from the Homer Academy in 1935 and the Powelson Business Academy in 1936.
Louise married Richard P. Meddaugh, the son of George L. and Sarah Meddaugh of Cortland on August 14, 1938. Louise and Richard lived on Alvena Ave., Woodruff St., and Faywood Ave. before moving to 10 Euclid Ave. in 1944. They built a house at 8 Euclid Ave. in 1957 where Louise continued to live after Richards death in 1980 until moving to the Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Facility, Misty Glen, in 1999. Her family is deeply appreciative of the loving care she received from Misty Glen.
Mrs. Meddaugh is survived by three children: Brian was born in 1939 and is retired from the National Security Agency in Deland Fl, with his wife Rosa. Richard was born in 1942, managed for Damaco Windows, and resides in Cortland with his wife Grace. Pamela, born in 1950, resides in Rochester with husband Tony Gregorio where she works for the Open Door Mission.
Mrs. Meddaugh encouraged her husband in his musical, banking, and political careers. She was an avid boater, acting as First Mate aboard a cabin cruiser which she, her husband, and grandson Chris steered through nearly all the navigable waters of New York and Eastern Canada.
In addition to her three children, Mrs. Meddaugh is survived by her 97 year old sister Doris Newton of Homer NY, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be celebrated 11 am, Saturday July 11, at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY. A calling hour will precede the funeral, 10-11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Preble Cemetery.
