Obituary of Beverly C. Marcey

Beverly C. Marcey, 75, of Cortland, passed away May 28, 2009 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Marcey was born February 1, 1934 in McGraw the daughter of the late Albert and Martha Hay Root. Mrs. Marcey had been a lifelong resident of the area; she had graduated from McGraw High School. Beverly retired from Marietta Corp. in 1999. She was a fabulous cook, cooking at the many large family gatherings and will be fondly remembered for her fabulous cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed bird watching and was an avid New York Mets fan. Mrs. Marcey is survived by three sons; David (Sue) of Cortland, Michael (Barbara) of Marathon and Matthew of Cortland. Three daughters; Rebecca (Bruce) Szabo of San Antonio, TX, Tami (Doug) Little of Cortland and Nancy (Robert Eckard) Marcey of Virgil. Two brothers; William Root of Cortland and Donald (Rose) Root of Cortland. Her seven sisters; Deanna (Charles) Gower of Borodino, Sandra Tiffany of DeRuyter, Pamela (Stanley) Guy McGraw, Rosaleta (Larry) McCall of Homer, Jeanne (Bill) Hulbert of Cortland, Karen Root of Cuyler and Carol Gulini of Cortland. Five grandchildren; Adam Marcey, Claude Willis, Michael Marcey, Chelsea Marcey, and Caitlin Little. Many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marcey was predeceased by her husband Charles D. and her sister Patricia Mead. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland . Interment will follow in the N. Pitcher Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Sunday 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home.
