Eleanor M. Congdon, 89, of Cortland, passed away October 25, 2013 at home with family by her side. She was born November 2, 1923 in Wyoming, PA, the daughter of the late Russell and Myrtle Pasco English. Eleanor was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cortland where she taught Sunday School. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially being able to care and provide for them over the years. She is survived by her son John (Cheri) Congdon of Cortland, her daughters Linda Enders of Cortland, Marlene (Neil) Tinker of Cortland, Susie Congdon of Cortland, eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, her cat “Hokie”. Mrs. Congdon was predeceased by her husband Morris Congdon, her daughter Diane Hart, her sister Thelma Drier. Calling hours will be Sunday 4-6 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 am Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Cortland NY. Burial will follow at the Virgil Cemetery. Eleanor’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver’s “The girl’s”.
