Paul J. Klempka, 69, of Cortland, passed away November 16, 2013 at Crown Center Nursing & Rehabilitation of Cortland, NY. Mr. Klempka was born October 2, 1944 in Binghamton, NY. The son of the late Joseph and Edna Brooks Klempka. Paul graduated from Cortland High School, then attended Broome Tech in Binghamton. Paul was a US Army veteran who served his country in Vietnam. Paul was a baker for most of his life working in Binghamton at the West Side Bakery and Endwell Bakery, and later worked at Lou’s Donut Shop and had been a partner with his family at the Olde World Bake Shop in Cortland. He is survived by ;his daughters Pamela Brown of Binghamton, Patricia Halsley of New York City, his adopted sons Donald and Scott Klempka , brothers: Charles Klempka of Cortland , Thomas Klempka of New Mexico, and special friend Ellen Morse . Several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Paul also had many friends at the Horizon House and in the community. Although Paul had his misfortunes in life he always had a great sense of humor, liked to play chess and enjoyed music and singing. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by Sister Carole Leonard. The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY with Reverend Archie Smith officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.
